Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about using Parseur with Claude, ChatGPT and other AI agents.

Yes. Parseur runs a hosted document processing MCP server at https://api.parseur.com/mcp. It uses the Streamable HTTP transport and OAuth 2.1 sign-in, so AI agents can connect without installing anything.

An AI agent can run a full Parseur account through more than 50 tools. It can create mailboxes, define fields and AI instructions, upload documents, split bundles, read the extracted data, reprocess documents, export CSV, Excel or JSON, and set up webhooks.

Parseur processes PDFs, emails, scanned images, spreadsheets and Word files. Common jobs are invoices, receipts, purchase orders, bank statements and booking emails. Parseur's built-in AI handles varied layouts, so a new supplier with a different invoice design needs no template.

Parseur signs agents in with OAuth 2.1 and PKCE. Access tokens expire after one hour and refresh tokens rotate. Parseur logs every tool call with file contents and credentials masked, and Parseur is SOC 2 Type II compliant and GDPR compliant. See the Parseur Trust Center.

Documents sent through MCP use the same page credits as documents sent any other way, with no extra fee for the MCP server. The free plan includes 20 pages a month. See Parseur pricing.

Yes. The agent creates an upload link and sends the file to the right Parseur mailbox, then reads the extracted data. Each link works for one upload and expires after 60 minutes by default. Files at a public URL and email text need no upload link, and every mailbox also has its own email address you can forward documents to.

An agent gets exactly the permissions of the Parseur user who signed in. Connect it with a user whose role cannot delete mailboxes or documents, and those tools disappear from the agent's list. Parseur also marks its delete tools as destructive, which tells the agent to ask before using them.

For one document, that works. At volume, a chat assistant reads one file at a time and its output can change from file to file. Parseur extracts the same fields into a fixed schema every time and keeps processing documents as they arrive, without a chat open. See AI document assistants vs ChatGPT.
