Two intelligent document processing tools can look equally affordable until you compare what they actually charge for. Some charge per page, others per document, per workflow block or per annual contract. A $99 monthly plan, a $0.16 per-invoice rate and a $0.30 extraction block can all describe the same invoice workflow, and they rarely add up to the same bill. That makes intelligent document processing (IDP) pricing difficult to compare directly.
The software rate is also only part of the total cost. APQC's cross-industry benchmark found a median accounts-payable processing cost of $1.36 per invoice line item. A 2025 Parseur and QuestionPro survey of 500 U.S. professionals found that manual data entry costs companies an average of $28,500 per employee a year.
To make IDP pricing comparable, we normalized the published prices of 10 intelligent document processing tools to an estimated cost per 1,000 pages at 1,000, 10,000 and 50,000 pages a month. We also added the costs that don't appear on pricing pages: setup, implementation and maintenance.
Key Takeaways
- IDP prices vary more than the headline numbers suggest. At 10,000 pages a month, published rates in our comparison run from $39.90 per 1,000 pages on Parseur to $150 on Affinda, $160 on Veryfi and an estimated $360 to $560 on Nanonets. Sales-led enterprise platforms such as ABBYY Vantage and Hyperscience require a quote.
- The pricing unit changes the bill. Per page, per document, per workflow block and platform fees all count your volume differently. Convert every quote to your own monthly pages and documents before comparing.
- Implementation can cost more than the software. Sales-led enterprise IDP often adds an annual minimum and an implementation project. One Azure implementation partner lists IDP projects at $50,000 to $100,000.
- Parseur publishes its pricing. Parseur, an intelligent document processing (IDP) tool, costs $99 per 1,000 pages at 1,000 pages a month, falling to $29.98 at 50,000 (annual billing), with the same extraction features on every plan and no implementation project.
IDP Pricing Compared
Intelligent document processing tools take documents in through channels such as email, upload or API, extract structured fields and tables, validate the data and deliver it into downstream systems. They fall into two buying models:
- IDP tools with self-serve setup. Buyers can sign up, configure and run them directly, with published pricing. Parseur is an intelligent document processing tool designed so teams can configure and operate document-processing workflows without building an extraction pipeline or running an implementation project.
- Sales-led enterprise IDP platforms cover the same core document-processing functions, but may also support broader requirements such as complex workflow orchestration, extensive human-review operations, customer-controlled deployment, enterprise governance and vendor-led implementation. Pricing is quoted.
This comparison covers IDP tools only. OCR APIs, which return raw text rather than structured data delivered to your systems, are a different purchase. See our guide to OCR vs IDP for how they differ.
Pricing verified on each vendor's own website on September 24, 2026. Prices in USD. Cost per 1,000 pages uses the lowest published plan that covers the volume, billed annually where the vendor offers it.

How we estimated Nanonets: Nanonets prices each workflow block at $0.02 (simple operations such as formatting or export), $0.10 (standard AI such as classification or validation) or $0.30 (complex AI, which includes data extraction), and says a typical invoice workflow runs four to six blocks. One extraction block plus three simple blocks comes to $0.36 per document. Adding two standard AI blocks brings it to $0.56. Nanonets' own example puts a typical invoice at under $2 end to end. After $50 in starting credits, the Starter plan costs $100/month for 100 credits.
How we calculated Parseur: Starter (1,000 pages) is $99/month billed annually or $129 monthly. Pro (10,000 pages) is $399 or $499. The 50k plan is $1,499 or $1,899. The rate per 1,000 pages keeps falling at higher volumes, with plans published up to 250,000 pages a month on the pricing page.
The Four IDP Pricing Models, and What Each One Hides
The pricing unit matters almost as much as the advertised price. A per-page rate gives you a predictable starting point, while per-document limits, credits, workflow blocks and platform fees introduce variables that make the final bill harder to estimate. Before comparing two IDP tools, identify what each vendor actually counts.
Per-page pricing
Per-page pricing is usually the easiest IDP pricing model to forecast. If you know your monthly page volume and the applicable plan or rate, you can estimate the processing cost without first translating documents, credits or workflow blocks.
Parseur uses this model. One credit represents one processed page, so a 10-page PDF consumes 10 credits, while an email or a spreadsheet counts as one page regardless of length. Parseur also states that reprocessing an existing processed document does not consume another credit. This makes the billing unit closely match the document volume a team already tracks.
Affinda also charges per page, with a rate that drops as monthly volume grows: $0.20 up to 2,500 pages, down to $0.05 above 30,000.
The complication is that "per page" and "per document" are easy to mix up. A 10-page PDF counts as 10 pages on a per-page tool, but as one billable document on Veryfi (up to 15 pages) or as one credit on Docparser (up to 5 pages). Neither model is cheaper by default. It depends on how long your documents are.
When comparing per-page and per-document IDP tools, check three things:
- what the vendor defines as a billable page or document
- how many pages a single document can contain before it counts twice
- whether reprocessing the same document consumes more usage
Per-credit pricing
Credit pricing uses a vendor-defined unit instead of a fixed price per page. Your actual cost depends on how many credits each document or processing option consumes.
Parsio uses this model, and each page uses one to three credits depending on the parser engine. The same 5,000 credits on its Growth plan can therefore cover anywhere from about 1,700 to 5,000 pages. The main challenge is forecasting costs before you know which engine your documents require.
For any credit-based IDP tool, ask:
- What does one credit cover: a page, a document or an email?
- How many credits does each engine or processing option consume?
- Can the system switch to a more expensive option?
- What happens when the included credits run out?
Without those answers, comparing credit balances tells you very little about your eventual document processing cost.
Per-block or per-run pricing
Per-block pricing charges for individual operations in a document workflow rather than charging once for the document.
Imagine an invoice enters an automation and passes through four operations:
- classify the document
- extract invoice fields
- validate the extracted data
- export the result
With block-based pricing, several of these operations may generate separate charges.
Nanonets uses this model and states that a typical invoice workflow may contain four to six blocks per document. Its rates also vary by operation, so the price of one block does not represent the total cost of processing one invoice.
The key question is not only "How many documents do we process?" but also "How many paid operations does each document trigger?"
To compare block-based pricing with per-page pricing, first estimate the blocks per document. At four to six blocks per invoice, including one $0.30 extraction block, a one-page invoice on Nanonets costs roughly $0.36 to $0.56 to process, or $360 to $560 per 1,000 pages before volume discounts. A per-page IDP tool charging $30 to $99 per 1,000 pages is therefore often the cheaper option, even though its headline number looks higher.
Platform-plus-usage pricing
Platform-plus-usage pricing combines a platform fee or minimum commitment with processing charges. The per-document rate is only one part of the total bill.
Costs may include:
- platform or subscription fees
- monthly or annual minimums
- included processing volume
- additional usage rates
- user or seat charges
- implementation, onboarding or support fees
Veryfi is an example at the self-serve end: its Starter plan has a $500 monthly minimum covering 3,125 invoices, then $0.16 per invoice. At low volumes, the minimum matters more than the per-invoice rate.
The model is also common among sales-led enterprise IDP platforms. These platforms typically quote an annual contract, with implementation priced separately. For enterprise IDP, compare the total annual commitment at your expected volume, not just the per-document rate.
None of these pricing models is automatically better. What matters is whether you can predict what your workload will actually cost.
What the IDP Pricing Page Doesn't Tell You
The advertised rate is only a starting point. Your actual intelligent document processing cost also depends on retries, document length, feature limits, overages and contract terms.
Here are the details worth checking before comparing IDP prices.
Reprocessing and retries
If an extraction needs to be run again, do you pay twice?
Parseur says reprocessing an already processed document does not consume another credit. Other vendors may count every run, so rerunning a document after a field change or a correction can add to the bill.
For production workloads, check exactly what the vendor considers a billable retry.
Multi-page documents
One document does not always equal one billing unit.
A 12-page contract counts as 12 pages on a per-page tool. On Veryfi it counts as one document, while on Docparser it uses three credits, since each credit covers up to 5 pages.
A useful calculation is:
Monthly documents × average pages per document = monthly page volume
If you process 10,000 documents averaging four pages each, compare per-page pricing for roughly 40,000 pages, and per-document pricing for 10,000 documents.
Tables, line items and extra features
Check whether line items, tables, validation, extra users or integrations cost extra, or are only available on higher plans.
On Nanonets, validation and classification are separate paid blocks. On Parsio, the parser engine changes how many credits each page uses. On Parseur, extraction fields, tables, the AI and template engines, and all integrations (Excel, Google Sheets, Zapier, Make, Power Automate, webhooks and API) are included on every plan. Multi-user accounts and advanced post-processing start at 10,000 pages a month.
Minimum commitments and overages
A low unit price may require a larger monthly plan or annual commitment. You may also pay a different rate once you exceed the usage included in your plan.
Calculate costs at both your normal monthly volume and your busiest realistic month. This exposes unused capacity, overage charges, and cases where moving to another tier makes more financial sense.
What happens when credits run out?
For credit-based IDP tools, reaching zero may stop processing or trigger additional charges, depending on the vendor and plan.
Check whether credits expire or roll over, how much additional credits cost, and whether processing stops or continues with overage billing. A hard stop is more than a pricing issue if the parser sits inside an automated business workflow.
For example, Parseur emails you at 90% usage. At 100%, new documents stop processing and are marked "Quota exceeded" rather than deleted. You can buy top-up credits, upgrade, or turn on early auto-renewal. Once credits are available again, you reprocess the queued documents. Unused credits expire at the end of each billing period.
Price changes
Check what happens to your rate when the vendor changes its pricing. Some vendors move existing customers onto new prices at renewal. Parseur grandfathers existing customers, so your rate stays the same while you keep receiving new features.
Sales-led pricing
Some IDP vendors do not publish self-service rates. ABBYY Vantage, for example, directs buyers to schedule a demo rather than listing a public processing price, and Docsumo quotes every plan.
That does not mean the product is expensive. It means you can't compare costs without contacting sales.
We label these vendors "No published price" rather than excluding them, because pricing transparency is part of the comparison.
Ultimately, the headline rate matters less than what your actual documents, volume, extraction requirements and exceptions will cost.
IDP Tool-by-Tool Pricing Breakdown
The same page volume can produce very different bills depending on what a vendor counts. We've grouped the IDP tools by buying model, starting with tools that offer self-serve setup, then sales-led enterprise IDP platforms.
IDP tools with self-serve setup
These intelligent document processing tools take documents in through channels such as email, upload or API, extract structured fields and tables, and deliver the resulting data into downstream systems. Their commercial models vary by vendor, so the monthly price alone doesn't make them comparable.
Parseur is an intelligent document processing (IDP) tool designed for self-serve setup and operation without a bespoke implementation project.
| Tool | Pricing model |
|---|---|
| Parseur | Per page (1 credit = 1 page). From $99/month for 1,000 pages billed annually. $29.98 per 1,000 pages at 50,000/month. Plans published up to 250,000 pages/month. |
| Nanonets | Per workflow block: simple $0.02/run, standard AI $0.10/run, complex AI (including extraction) $0.30/run. After the starting credits, $100/month for 100 credits. |
| Docparser | Starter $39/month (100 credits), Professional $74 (250), Business $159 (1,000), Enterprise by quote. 1 credit covers 1 document of up to 5 pages. |
| Airparser | Billed annually: Starter $33/month (100 credits), Growth $49 (500), Premium $249 (5,000). 1 credit = 1 PDF page, email or document. |
| Parsio | From $24/month billed annually. Growth from $124/month (5,000 credits). Business from $249/month (12,000 credits). Each page uses 1 to 3 credits depending on the parser engine. |
| Veryfi | Starter: $500 monthly minimum covering 3,125 invoices, then $0.16 per invoice ($0.08 per receipt). Charged per document of up to 15 pages. Volumes above 25,000/month by quote. |
| Affinda | Per page, tiered by monthly volume: $0.20 up to 2,500 pages, $0.15 to 10,000, $0.10 to 30,000, $0.05 above. Enterprise by quote. |
| Docsumo | Custom quote based on page volume, workflow complexity (classification, validations, cross-document checks) and payment term. Business and Enterprise plans are both quoted. |
Entry plans in this category look similar. The differences show at volume. Several platforms publish only their entry tier, and Docsumo publishes no price at all, so check the price at 10,000 and 50,000 pages before choosing.
Sales-led enterprise IDP platforms
Some IDP vendors do not publish enough pricing information to calculate a cost per page. Buyers need to contact sales for a quote, which makes direct comparison difficult.
| Tool | Pricing model |
|---|---|
| ABBYY Vantage | Enterprise pricing, contact sales |
| Hyperscience | No public pricing, quote required |
As of September 2026, ABBYY and Hyperscience do not publish processing prices, and contracts of this kind typically run to six figures a year. Neither publishes enough information to calculate a reliable cost per 1,000 pages without requesting a quote.
Sales-led enterprise IDP platforms suit organizations that need customer-controlled or on-premises deployment, procurement-led buying, extensive human-review operations or a vendor-managed implementation. Their annual minimums and implementation work add to the software cost.
Worked Example: 10,000 Invoices a Month
Rates per page only tell you part of the story. Here's how the same workload compares across three IDP tools: what the software costs in the first year, and what it takes to get running.
The workload: 10,000 one-page supplier invoices a month from about 200 suppliers, in varying layouts. The data goes into an accounting system. Suppliers change their layouts a few times a year.
| Parseur | Nanonets | Veryfi | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pricing basis | Pro plan, 10,000 pages/month, billed annually | 4 to 6 blocks per invoice at published block rates | $0.16 per invoice after the $500 monthly minimum |
| Software, year one | $4,788 | Est. $43,200 to $67,200 before volume discounts of up to 40% | About $19,200 |
| Setup | Self-serve, run by the operations team | Self-serve, workflow built from blocks | Self-serve |
At this volume, the pricing unit decides the bill more than the headline rate. Nanonets' per-block model multiplies with every step in the workflow, and Veryfi's per-invoice rate is predictable but sits well above a per-page plan for one-page documents. A per-page IDP tool with self-serve setup keeps both the software line and the setup cost low.
The Cost Most Comparisons Ignore: Total Cost of Ownership

Total IDP cost = software + implementation + setup + maintenance + human review + exception handling + ongoing administration.
The cheapest processing rate is rarely the cheapest option overall. Your total cost of ownership (TCO) also includes:
- Implementation: a vendor-led implementation project, or the time your own team spends configuring the tool
- Setup: configuring fields, rules and integrations
- Maintenance: updating templates, instructions or workflows as senders change their layouts
- Exception handling: fixing failed or incomplete extractions
- Human review: checking extracted data before it reaches downstream systems
- Ownership: who has to be involved every time something changes: a developer, IT, a vendor, or the team that runs the process
For sales-led enterprise IDP, implementation is often the largest line. One Microsoft Azure implementation partner, for example, lists its intelligent document processing projects at $50,000 to $100,000 over one to three months, depending on the number of document types, where the documents are stored and which systems the data goes into.
How to Estimate Your Own IDP Cost
IDP pricing becomes easier to compare once you convert it to your actual workload. Start with five inputs:
- Monthly documents: How many documents do you process?
- Average pages per document: 10,000 invoices averaging three pages means 30,000 pages on a per-page tool.
- Workflow steps and features: Line items, validation, classification or extra users may cost more on some IDP tools.
- Exception rate: Estimate how many documents will need reprocessing or human review.
- Who will run it: If a vendor, IT or a developer has to set up or maintain the workflow, include their time. If the operations team can run it themselves, that cost largely disappears.
Then annualize the result:
Monthly processing cost × 12 + implementation and other operating costs = estimated annual cost
For example, a business processing 10,000 three-page invoices per month should compare per-page IDP tools using 30,000 pages per month, not 10,000 documents.
You should also compare that cost with what you currently spend processing documents manually. Parseur's cost savings calculator lets you estimate the time and money you could save by automating data entry.
The Cheapest Rate Is Not the Lowest Cost
A low headline rate looks attractive until you count the workflow blocks, per-document limits, minimums and implementation work behind it. A sales-led enterprise IDP platform can add an annual contract and an implementation project before the first document is processed. For operations teams processing a steady flow of documents from many senders, the question isn't which IDP tool has the lowest rate on its pricing page. It's what it costs to turn each document into accurate, structured data in your systems, and to keep that working when a supplier changes its layout.
Parseur is an intelligent document processing (IDP) tool designed for self-serve implementation. It combines document intake, structured extraction and data delivery without requiring teams to build their own document-processing pipeline or undertake a heavyweight enterprise implementation. Calculate the cost of your current document-processing workflow and compare it with Parseur using your actual monthly volume.
